This one is all about BBQ! Whether you are a fierce competitor going after the awesome prize pool – or a family looking for a fun day out in the hills – this event will have something for you!
The competition is on Saturday 26th May – and there will be lots to do and see. Something for the entire family to enjoy! Come on up to the hills and enjoy the day.
Things kick off at 9:00am – and we will be awarding the prizes to our competitors in the evening – stay the whole day and enjoy the festivities!

What is it? Spit in the Hills is a competition licensed by KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society). KCBS is an international organisation, with world-wide recognition, that runs sanctioned BBQ events all over the world.
When Teams can / will Arrive: Teams are welcome to arrive anytime from 5 AM Friday morning.
Cooking methods: Wood or charcoal heat source ONLY. (No gas or electricity)
Meats being cooked:
1. Pork on a spit (must be cooked on a spit)
2. Chicken Wings (cooked any way you like)
3. “Open” Lamb (any cut – cooked any way you like)
Prize Distribution: $10,000 total prize pool.
Grand Champion: $3,500
Runner Up: $2,000
1st Place Chicken Wings: $1,000 1st Place Open Lamb: $1,000 1st Place Pork: $1,000
2nd Place Chicken Wings: $300 2nd Place Open Lamb: $300 2nd Place Pork: $300
3rd Place Chicken Wings: $200 3rd Place Open Lamb: $200 3rd Place Pork: $200
Registration is open: All teams must pre-pay their entry fee of $250 before the event.

For those teams wishing to stay overnight we can provide information on local campsites, b&b’s and guesthouse – they are welcome to camp on site.
The Tavern will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
